Joeffrey – Joe shares Journey from Rural Roots to Remote Coding

This week’s Community Breakfast featured Joeffrey, known simply as Joe shares his inspiring journey. His story from rural France to Republikken in Copenhagen is nothing short of remarkable. Born in France and “made” in the UK, Joe shared how his adventurous spirit led him to travel, switch careers, and find a home in Denmark—at least for now.

From Sales to Software

Joe started his professional life in sales, but his curiosity about technology and people couldn’t be ignored. While working in sales, he began building databases, which sparked his interest in programming. Determined to pursue this passion, Joe completed a two-month intensive bootcamp that equipped him with the skills to land his first developer role. Today, he works as a software engineer and solutions architect at Homeflow, mentoring others and crafting innovative solutions.

The Copenhagen Connection

Joe’s journey to Copenhagen began after a memorable summer visit to a friend in Malmö. He quickly fell in love with the city’s charm and vibrant community. Now thriving in Republikken’s creative environment, Joe embraces its energy, which aligns with his philosophy of exploring life and embracing change.

Exploring New Passions

Beyond coding, Joe dives into improv comedy, salsa dancing, and mentoring. For him, improv is a tool for self-expression and connection—much like his consultative sales days. He’s passionate about human stories, which fuel his love for coaching and exploring new career paths. Joe’s enthusiasm for improv comedy is so infectious that many in the audience felt tempted to give it a try!

What’s Next for Joe?

Joe’s story is about embracing life’s uncertainties. Whether he’s mentoring aspiring developers, considering a career in coaching, or captivating an audience with improv comedy, Joe is a true testament to the power of reinvention.
