From Classical Guitar to Governance – Meet Rasmus

This Thursday at Community Breakfast at Republikken, we met someone who reminded us that leadership is not only about results. It is about purpose. Rasmus Adrian, consultant, former CEO and cultural strategist, shared his journey through arts, culture and governance – and left us reflecting on what value really means.

From Concert Halls to Crossroads

Rasmus’ career began in music. He studied classical guitar at the Royal Academy, but quickly discovered that his path would unfold behind the scenes rather than on stage .

Over the past 20 years, he has worked in leadership roles across arts and culture. He has been responsible for programming at The Royal Library’s Black Diamond. He has served as CEO of the South Denmark Philharmonic. And he helped establish the theatre Republik in Østerbro as part of a rather ambitious three-CEO setup.

Later, he moved to Northern Norway to lead Stormen Concert Hall, navigating the complex relationship between politics, public ownership and cultural institutions .

What Is KRYSS?

After five and a half years abroad, Rasmus returned to Denmark and founded his own company: KRYSS .

Today, he advises purpose-driven organizations within arts, culture, NGOs and the public sector. His focus is governance, leadership and clarity. Especially in organizations where value cannot simply be measured on a balance sheet .

Because how do you lead when the most important outcomes cannot be counted?

Rasmus works with boards and leadership teams to define purpose, clarify ownership structures and translate meaning into strategy . He is even writing a book on governance in arts and culture, aiming to strengthen the field from within.

A Love for Purpose and Community

One example from his talk stuck with us.

When you buy a house, you pay the market price. But what you are really buying is a home. A shared space for memories and meaning .

That is value too.

At Republikken, we meet many members building companies and scaling ideas. Rasmus reminds us that purpose is not a luxury. It is a foundation.
