Donny Winston at Community Breakfast; highlighting data science, his journey to Copenhagen, and NASA’s Space Apps Challenge.
Today at Republikken’s Community Breakfast, we had the pleasure of meeting Donny Winston. A recent arrival in Copenhagen from Los Angeles, Donny has spent most of his career at the intersection of data science, academic research, and consultancy. Now, he’s setting down roots in Copenhagen, working on starting a new company while helping organizations manage data more effectively.
From Los Angeles to Copenhagen
Donny’s journey to Copenhagen is a blend of serendipity and ambition. A data consultant with a PhD in engineering, he’s passionate about improving research through better data management. He’s currently building a product to help large research organizations, like NASA, handle data more flexibly and precisely. His work involves complex problem-solving with data structures, ensuring that researchers can focus on discovery, not just administration.
Leading the NASA Space Apps Challenge
This weekend, Donny is leading the NASA Space Apps Challenge here at Republikken. It’s an international hackathon where participants use real NASA data to tackle global challenges. From mapping greenhouse gases to exploring geomagnetic storms, it’s a two-day event for people of all backgrounds. With expert mentors available and global support, the hackathon aims to make complex data more accessible and impactful.
How Can Donny Help You?
Donny offers expertise in data management and conceptualizing data models. He also has experience with the Startup Denmark program, which he’s happy to discuss with anyone curious about that process.
