Paul Rosset from Republikken Coworking Space in Copenhagen

Why Paul Chose Copenhagen as His New Home

At this week’s Community Breakfast, we got to hear Paul ’s story and why he chose to swap the sunny shores of Nice, France, for a home in the charming streets of Copenhagen. The Danish Capital isn’t just a city—it’s an experience.

Seeking Something New

Paul didn’t move to Copenhagen for a job. In fact, he kept the same job he had in France—working remotely as a software engineer for CrowdStrike. What he really wanted was a change of pace, a fresh perspective, and an international experience. Having lived in France all his life, he felt the pull of something different, something exciting.

“I wanted to live abroad, to break the routine,” Paul shared. And Copenhagen, as he soon discovered, was the perfect place to do just that.

Sharing is Caring

Paul is a person of many talents and interests—photography, coding apps, and building websites are just a few of them. But beyond that, he’s also passionate about sharing knowledge.

Paul has written several blog posts on a variety of technical topics, making it easier for others to learn and gain insights from his experience.

So if you’re into coding, Paul is definitely the person to talk to! And if you can’t wait, his technical blog posts are just a Google search away—simply look up Paul Rosset, and you won’t be disappointed.

But why Copenhagen as Home?

With the whole world to choose from, why did Paul settle on Copenhagen? He explored other cities—Berlin, Zurich—but something about Copenhagen just felt right.

It consistently ranks high in global quality-of-life indexes, and Paul could feel why from the moment he arrived. The safety, the ease of getting around, and the balance between work and life all played a part. “Everything just works,” he said. “You don’t have to stress about anything—you just go.”

Even the Danish language, with all its quirks and complexities, added to the charm. Though let’s be honest—learning it might take a while.

Finding a Workplace and a Community

As a remote worker, Paul needed more than just a city—he needed a place to connect with people. Working from home wasn’t an option. He wanted a space where he could meet others, have casual conversations, and feel like he had colleagues, even without an office.

That’s what led him to Republikken. It wasn’t just about having a desk—it was about finding a community. “I was looking for a place like this,” Paul said. “Somewhere I could meet people and have a bit of work-life balance.” Three weeks in, and he’s already feeling at home.

Falling for the City

One thing that truly stood out for Paul was Copenhagen’s beauty through the seasons. A photography enthusiast, he’s already started capturing the city’s unique light, from summer’s endless evenings to winter’s cozy glow.

But beyond aesthetics, it’s the people that have made the transition easy. Copenhagen gave Paul a fresh start, and Republikken gave him a place to belong. And that’s what turning a new city into a home is all about.
