From Telecom to Data Lakes: Przemysław Mikulski Builds Platforms with Purpose

He didn’t come to Denmark for the weather. He came for the future.

At this week’s Community Breakfast, Przemysław shared his journey from studying telecommunications in Poland to discovering Denmark through an Erasmus exchange. What began as a semester abroad became a decade-long adventure of education, work, and eventually entrepreneurship. Today, he co-runs Kodlot, a consulting company that designs and builds cloud-based data platforms for clients across Europe.

From Student Jobs to Startup Founder

Like many internationals, his path in Denmark started with small steps—finding accommodation, landing a student assistant role at GN Hearing, and writing a thesis in collaboration with universities in Poland and Denmark. Those opportunities led to deeper roots: a master’s degree at DTU, a growing love for data science, and eventually the leap into co-founding his own business.

Making Data Flow

Kodlot’s specialty? Ensuring data flows seamlessly across complex Cloud based systems (AWS, Azure). Whether it’s pharmaceutical companies gathering information from health agencies, or tech firms connecting CRMs, weather data, and customer interactions, Kodlot builds the infrastructure that keeps it all running. “Shit in, shit out,” he laughed—reminding us that clean, structured data is what makes AI and analytics truly valuable.

And while AI is changing the field fast, he sees the human role as irreplaceable. Understanding what clients actually want, asking the right questions, and translating needs into technical solutions—that’s where people still make the difference.

Community, Connection, and a Bit of Sailing

Beyond the cloud, Przemysław spends his evenings on the water, teaching sailing at DTU’s club for nearly nine years. For him, teaching and mentoring are just as rewarding as engineering. At Republikken, he offers the same spirit: whether it’s advice on cloud infrastructure, mentoring, or even a boat ride invitation—he’s eager to share his knowledge and energy.

Because whether it’s data pipelines or sailing winds, he believes in building connections that keep things moving forward.
